a walk in the rain with a brain by edward m. hallowell, m.d.
my findings:
This was a great book to help teach positive thinking. I think students are inclined to say "I can't do it" or "It's good enough," rather than trying their best.
We created a t-chart about positive thinking alternatives. We also brainstromed different activities where we could change out mindset to a more positive one - many students said "during math" or "during drawing activities." Students seemed to catch on quickly.
Students loved the illustrations in teh book and the rhyming pattern. This contributed to a fun and engaging way to learn about growth mindset.
After, students created a reflection to set positive mindself goals. I was impressed to see how much students retained from this activities.
Additionally, I notices students being more positive in class after this lesson. This was refreshing!
